The Scientific Committee invites prospective authors to submit their abstracts for presentation at
the 2023 Annual Scientific Congress of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists (MSA) and
the College of Anaesthesiologists, AMM in the following categories::
1. Anaesthesia
2. Pain Medicine
3. Intensive Care Medicine
Abstracts can either be in the form of a Research Article or Case Report/Case Series. Following review by the Scientific Committee, shortlisted abstracts will be invited to participate in the following:
- MSA Award (Research Article category, Oral presentation)
- MSA Young Investigator Award (Research Article Category, Oral Presentation, Presenter age <40 years as of 2023)
- Best e-poster for Research Article (Research Article Category, Poster Presentation)
- Best e-poster for Case Report or Case Series (Case Report/Case Series, Poster Presentation)
Authors must submit their abstracts in electronic format according to categories (Research Article or Case Report) and use the electronic template provided when submitting their abstracts
Deadline for Submission of Abstract: 13 June 2023 .
The Scientific Committee will review each abstract submission, and a notification will be sent informing the required format in which your abstract will be presented.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
- Abstracts are to be submitted in English.
- You must obtain the relevant consent and approvals before submitting the abstract.
- Authors must ensure information regarding ethics approval and patient consent is readily available. You may be asked for more information during the assessment of your abstract.

If you do not have the necessary consent or approvals, your abstract will not be accepted by congress.
- Authors must adhere to the format provided on the website. This is to ensure uniformity for maintaining standards for abstract publication.
- Abstracts will only be considered for awards and prizes if they have not previously been presented at a scientific meeting or published in a journal.
- Authors who have applied to compete in the MSA Young Investigator Award or MSA Award and whose abstracts are not selected can opt for the poster presentation if they choose to do so.
- Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently not accepted for presentation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author following the cancellation policy at the behest of the author.
- Notification of acceptance will be sent by 1st July 2023. Scheduling details and guidelines for the final preparation of accepted abstracts will be included with the notification of acceptance.
- The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee.
Awards & Prizes
MSA YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD
The MSA is proud to announce the Young Investigator Award for original work in the fields of
Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine. This competition is open to Malaysians below
the age of 40 as of 1st January 2023.The award is given in recognition of outstanding original work
and consists of an honorarium of RM3,000 and a certificate of merit.
MSA AWARD
The MSA recognises the importance of research in the advancement of the discipline and supports
efforts to develop this activity. This award encourages medical investigators in the country to
participate in the proceedings of the Annual Scientific Congress and is given to the researcher
who has shown great achievement in research. An honorarium of RM3,000 and a certificate of
merit will be given to the recipient. This competition is open to all Malaysian medical practitioners.
There is no age limit.

The awards for best poster presentations are:
Research/study/audit:
- 1st Prize: RM1,000
- 2nd Prize: RM750
- 3rd Prize: RM500
Case report / case series: RM1,000
